^^ Poll ;D, and explain your reasoning. Personally i believe that the gov't is just using national security as an excuse to become more authoritarian and totalitarian, and that the Patriot act and similar policies are simply the byproduct of conservative middle america... hopefully Nick doesnt get mad at me for making him think if he reads this like he does at lunch and by the way: << this emoticon sucks, i might upload a better one in it's place sometime but currently im to lazy and tired to bother editing and uploading a pic... bah! I'm interested to see the opinions on this (although i think this will be a fairly biased poll as the populace of this site seems to be fairly liberal) << *posts first thread* ;D

Thanks for posting, Evan ;D And this emoticon doesn't suck>>>>>>> And back on topic... I think that some people are using this heightened security a tad too much as a way to bash others in office. As far as the actual policies in use, however, I think that they're fair. If you don't perform checks, you have less of a chance of knowing what's going on, and get accused for not caring about public wellbeing. On the other hand, if you do carry out luggage checks and such, you're more likely to catch something before it happens, and you get to be blamed for racism because you randomly chose one black ***, or the one Muslim in the station, after checking 25 Caucasians in a row. Yay for politics
